Sharon Leichsenring's Master Ornament & Cloud Scapes

ELEMENTAL ORNAMENT & CLOUDSCAPES

INSTRUCTED BY SHARON LEICHSENRING

May 19-21, 2010
Wednesday through Friday

Class Fee $1195.00

It’s a trend you are seeing everywhere, hand-painted detail for cabinetry, domes and groin ceilings, and a must have in your portfolio. The skill of this type of artistry separates you from the crowd, so important in these tough economic times. Everyone can learn the techniques necessary to accomplish these beautiful samples. Nationally award winning artist Sharon Leichsenring shares her years of experiences in showing you how to use stencils and how to create your own patterns for ornamental designs. Learn what style and period of ornament is appropriate for a job and the methods for transferring patterns. Sharon will show you how to present ornament concepts to your client.

This three day custom curriculum will allow you time to make two stunning ornament pieces for your portfolio with trompe l’oeil and metallic effects along with two beautiful cloudscapes! Cloudscapes can range from simple and whimsical used for nurseries and perhaps a laundry room, quiet and airy to recall that perfect morning sky, to billowy and dramatic as the mood may dictate. In this workshop, students will create two cloudscapes, one a dramatic overhead sky with a wrought iron frame and the other a sky as viewed from the side that can be used to create a windowscape or to incorporate in a wall mural with other design elements. The most important thing you can do for yourself and your business right now is step up your training to be the best that you can be to meet all the needs of your designers and clients alike. This class will provide you with a platform on which to build your greater success.

About Your Instructor: Sharon Leichsenring doesn't just paint murals on the wall. She celebrates the art of fine decorative painting. Seeing one of her completed projects, the viewer is part of a total illusion. "There's a sense of wonder having an artist create that special world for you in your own home, that is truly yours." says Sharon.  "It's more than finding the correct palette and reference materials - which are important - but, the core of the successful design is being able to take your client's wish and translate it into that emotional response which they are seeking.  A well-designed mural or vignette should be able to evoke that response every time it's viewed.

Her residential and commercial work can be found in Fairfield County, New Haven County and Litchfield County in Connecticut, as well as in the greater New York area. Sharon was honored in April by being named Number One in the United States in the category of Decorative Painting by American Painting Contractors Magazine in "Who's Who in the Painting Industry 2008". Traditionally trained in classic architectural trompe l'oeil, mural painting and fine hand lettering, Sharon combines her signature painting style with both traditional and cutting edge faux finishing including Murals/Trompe L'oeil, Glaze and Texture, Marble, Grisaille, and Stenciling. Sharon's work can be seen as a feature in a new book released by North Light Publishers authored by Gary Lord. The book is titled "Mural Painting Secrets for Success".  In addition, four of Sharon's murals are included in the gallery of this book.
